Heart-breaking! Gozo’s Ramla Bay looks unrecognisable after Monday’s storm
Woah…

Goodness! Ramla l-Hamra (Ramla Bay) is one of the most popular beaches in Gozo, especially known for its reddish sand. What was once a smooth sandy beach is now a little bit of a sad sight, following the insane thunderstorm that hit the Maltese Islands on Monday.

A canal seems to have formed on the beach and tonnes of rocks can be seen, along with a destroyed accessible wooden path. While it looks nothing like the bay we know, locals have pointed out that this is part of the nature’s process, with some noting that another storm could easily reverse the situation. Others have also noted that this usually happens during autumn winter months (particularly during rainy season), after which, the sand will slowly return.
