Heads up! Traffic diversions & special late-night buses from Valletta for Fireworks Festival
The much-anticipated Malta International Fireworks Festival is lighting up our skies – and with it, a few important travel updates you’ll want to note if you’re heading to Valletta this week.
Traffic diversions – Tuesday 22nd April
To make way for the festivities taking place in the capital, Transport Malta has announced that several roads in Valletta will be closed to traffic today, Tuesday 22nd April, between 4PM and midnight.
Affected roads include Triq il-Lanċa, Triq il-Mediterran and surrounding streets in the area. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible. If you do need to pass through, drive cautiously and follow all signage for the diversions.
Special late-night bus services – Friday 25th April
Good news for festival-goers! On Friday, 25th April, special late-night public transport services will be in place to help attendees travel home after the fireworks display.
These additional routes will operate between 11:30PM and 11:45PM from designated route bays in Valletta, connecting the capital to several localities across Malta, including Cirkewwa, Marsaskala, Mosta and many more.
