Heads up! Telgħa ta’ Selmun and part of Mellieħa Bypass closed for nightly roadworks from 9th to 16th June
Drivers will have to take the detour through Manikata.

If you’re planning any late-night drives between Mellieħa and Xemxija this week, take note! It-Telgħa ta’ Selmun (Selmun Hill) and part of Triq Louis Wettinger (the Mellieħa Bypass) will be closed nightly from Monday 9th June (tonight) to Monday 16th June 2025, between 8pm and 5am, due to resurfacing works.

This means that if you’re travelling from Xemxija to Mellieħa (or vice versa) during those hours, you’ll need to detour through Manikata to reach your destination. If you're getting to Malta via the Gozo ferry at night, your best bet is to take Dawret il-Mellieħa after Għadira, then turn right at the roundabout to travel via Manikata.

If you’re taking the Manikata detour, drive with extra care – the route can be quite dark at night. Make sure your headlights are working properly and use your high beams when safe to do so!

Drive safe!

9th June 2025
