The Michelin guide has long provided recommendations on where best to spend one’s time and money when it comes to eating out. As it turns out, Malta’s Michelin restaurants are some of the most accessible when compared to those found in other countries around the world, according to new research published by Spin Genie

This ranking was based on how affordable the Michelin-starred restaurants in each country are, as well as the number of restaurants per the country’s population. Malta ranked 5th on the latter, with an average of 1.3 Michelin-starred restaurants per 100,000 people.

In the first place of this ranking comes Macau with an average of 2.6 Michelin-starred restaurants per 100,000 people. This autonomous region is located on the south coast of China and is well-known for its unique blend of Portuguese and Chinese culture.

Malta has recently also ranked 8th in the list of most affordable countries for Michelin-starred dining. There are a total of 7 restaurants in Malta that currently hold Michelin star – 1 that has been awarded two stars and 6 that hold one star.

Have you tried any of the Michelin-starred restaurants?
