Glow up! This historical Hamrun façade gets restored
Here’s a little before and after for you.

Kim Vella

This iconic Hamrun façade got the facelift it deserves.

This conservation and restoration project of the stone and painted signage brought a run down and battered façade back to life...

 Hamrun Restoration

The Hamrun Local Council decided that the conservation of this historical corner façade was essential due to its historical value and human interest.

The project aimed to slow down its deterioration after being subjected to stone scaling over the years.

The style and features of the building suggest that this building has been around since the late 19th century.

 Hamrun Restoration

If you look closely, the hand tool marks formed during the manufacturing process by the mannarett or axe in English are still visible today!

The words STATION and WAY TO THE AMERICAN DRY CLEANING CO. were still visible although very faint.

The original sign was once related to the Old Railways in Malta. Back in the 1800s, the railway ran from Valletta to Mdina, passing through Hamrun.

The American Dry Cleaning co. sign was the first to deliver a dry-cleaning service in Malta. They would clean linens and uniforms of the British Navy, Army, and Air Force.
