If you’ve ever dreamed of turning your passion for travel and hospitality into a career, you’re not alone! The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) recently hosted a Tourism Careers Seminar in Gozo, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the diverse job opportunities in Malta’s thriving tourism industry.

Held at the Grand Hotel Gozo, the event welcomed career advisors, guidance counsellors, and hospitality teachers from across the island. Rather than a typical sit-down seminar, the attendees were treated to hands-on experiences that helped them discover the different sectors that keep Malta’s tourism scene buzzing.

One group visited St. Andrew’s Dive Cove in Xlendi, learning how the scuba diving sector plays an important role in attracting adventure-seeking tourists. Another group explored BELS English Language School in Kerċem, discovering how Malta has become a top destination for language learning. The rest got a peek into the world of destination management, followed by a tour of the Grand Hotel’s facilities.

Beyond the on-site visits, the seminar featured insightful talks from industry leaders. Leslie Vella, Deputy CEO of MTA, kicked things off, while Joe Muscat, CEO of the Gozo Tourism Association, shared how Gozo is carving out its unique identity in the tourism world.

Other speakers tackled hot topics like workforce challenges, the future of Gozo’s tourism industry, and the training opportunities available at the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS).

With the industry continuously evolving, this seminar was a goldmine of information for educators looking to guide the next generation of hospitality professionals. Whether it's diving, event planning, language tourism, or hotel management, there are endless career paths waiting to be explored in Malta and Gozo.
