The moment we have all been waiting for! The statue of St Cajetan, the patron saint of Hamrun, has arrived in Rome, marking the start of a significant pilgrimage.

The statue was carefully transported from Hamrun, Malta, and has now been placed in the Basilica of Sant’Andrea della Valle in Rome.

This pilgrimage is part of the 500th-anniversary celebrations of the founding of the Theatine Order, an order established by St Cajetan himself. The statue's presence in Rome holds great symbolic importance for the anniversary.

On the 14th of September, a special commemoration will be held in Rome to honour St Cajetan and his role in founding the Theatine Order, making this event a historic moment for both the religious community and those with ties to Hamrun.

What a journey!
