Nathan Micallef, the Maltese-born talent and current womenswear designer at Self‑Portrait, has reached a career milestone: crafting bespoke costumes for Beyoncé and her dancers on Night Four of the London leg of the Cowboy Carter Tour.

The show‑stopping centrepiece was Beyoncé’s opening look; a custom Self‑Portrait crystal‑encrusted bodysuit paired with a diamanté‑studded leather multi‑belt harness and feather chaps. Every gleaming crystal and fluttering feather were thoughtfully selected to echo the energy and commanding stage presence Beyoncé radiates.

The costume tapped into Beyoncé’s Western-inspired aesthetic while infusing Self‑Portrait’s signature femininity. The feather chaps, in particular, add dramatic motion, billowing with every dance step and camera angle.

Eyes were on precision: from harness fit to feather weight, each element had to be performance‑proof and visually arresting under stadium lights.

For Nathan, this experience is more than a career highlight; it’s a global showcase of his design ethos: bold, dynamic, and exquisitely detailed.

Well done, Nathan!
