Suppose you’re looking for an artistic activity this weekend in Gozo. In that case, you’re in luck as Il-Ħaġar - Heart of Gozo Museum just announced that from Monday 15th July to Sunday 21st July, the museum will be extending its opening hours to showcase an exceptional range of permanent and temporary attractions.

Visitors can marvel at the museum’s extensive collection, featuring masterpieces by 17th and 18th Maltese artists, as well as contemporary works. Historical artefacts, documents, and liturgical objects from St. George's Basilica, alongside treasures from Victoria’s conventual church of St. Francis, provide a deep dive into local heritage.

Highlights include the Joseph Vella Music Archive and the Joseph Baruch Silver Collection, which boasts ancient terracotta oil lamps and pottery from the period of the divided kingdoms of Judah and Israel, dating back 2,800 years.

All set for tomorrow morning’s inauguration of Neapolitan artists Aurelio and Simone Talpa’s joint exhibition,...

The coin display dating from 110BC and Papal paraphernalia, including Pope Francis's last worn cardinal’s cassock before his 2013 election, will also be on display.

The museum will also feature ‘Mediterranean Synergies’, an exhibition showcasing over 60 works by Neapolitan artists Aurelio and Simone Talpa, spread across multiple floors. Additionally, the Gozo Philatelic Society presents a selection of British stamps used in Malta, celebrating its 25th anniversary, donated by collector Wolfgang Juncker.

Visitors can unwind at The Roof at Il-Ħaġar, the museum’s rooftop bar, which will be offering snacks, drinks, and breathtaking panoramic views of Victoria, Gran Castello, and the surrounding countryside.

Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the rich cultural tapestry on offer during these extended hours.

Will you be visiting Il-Ħaġar Museum next week?
