Explore these 5 incredible unspoilt spots by boat

Keith Sammut and his fiancé Valentina at Suncat Malta Charters spend their summers hosting and skippering groups on their 41 x 23-foot Lagoon 410 Beneteau sailing catamaran. The comfortable size means that it's double the width of a normal sailing yacht, which makes for a leisurely sailing trip. It can seat 15 people comfortably by day or night, and sleeps eight in its four double cabins with en suite bathrooms. Boat trips are tailor-made according to guest requests and circumstances, making this inexpensive charter extremely easy and flexible. Why not try it out for yourself this summer? Whether you want to propose to your loved one over crystal aqua waters or simply have a BBQ on board with friends and family, there are a wealth of beautiful spots dotted around the Maltese islands that are best enjoyed by boat. Keith suggests some of his favourites:

Crystal Lagoon, Comino

"The Blue Lagoon is really beautiful, but it's jam-packed with tourists and boats in the summer time. Crystal Lagoon is a really nice alternative because it's around the corner and is just as beautiful with its aqua water, yet a lot more peaceful."

Santa Maria Bay, Comino

"I really like to take guests around Comino because it's an angle of the islands that you don’t really get to experience unless you're on a private boat. Santa Maria Bay is a small, quiet, sandy beach with clear and shallow water. It’s just next to Comino’s cute little police station - the main job of which is to keep control of the boats around the small island."

Mgarr Ix-Xini, Gozo

"A lot of chartered boats stop here because it's a really charming little bay, but it also has an appealing rustic restaurant with really fresh seafood. This is also the location where Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie shot the film By the Sea. Our guests can either opt for a restaurant like this or order from one of the Suncat Charter menus. We also allow clients to bring their own food and drinks on board."

Gebla Tal-Halfa, Gozo

"This is a magnificent and tranquil place with an offshore isle in Qala point in Gozo. Here, salt pans cut in the limestone shelf at the scenic bay make for a beautiful sight."

Selmun Bay

“Selmun Bay is surrounded by stunning cliffs. It can be reached by land, but it's quite a long and cumbersome trek to get there. We usually visit either Selmun Bay, Paradise Bay or Armier at some point of the journey during our day charters.”
