EXCLUSIVE: 10 Maltese cyclists stranded abroad due to COVID-19

With the news that all flights to and from Italy, as well as the Catamaran service (for leisure purposes) have been suspended, many locals are stranded. And this group of local cyclists are part of the lot.

We spoke to one of the cyclists, who gave us the low-down on the current situation in Modica, Sicily, where they currently are. “We’re heading to Pozzallo now and hoping there will be a ferry to take us home tonight,” he said, sharing the group were in Modica for a cycling training camp.

“Unfortunately, we’ve had to cut our trip short as we were planning to stay till Sunday. As far as we know, the ferry isn’t confirmed yet, but we have been advised to go to Pozzallo and wait.”
