Ever seen a three-wheeled car? Take a look at this one chugging down Gozo’s roads in the 1960s
Here’s something you don’t see every day: a three-wheeled car making its way through the Gozitan countryside!
This fascinating photo, shared by Ino Mario Borg on the nostalgic site ‘Gozo Album’, shows a Lawrie Bond British-made three-wheeler driving through a large stone archway on Pope John Paul II Street, heading toward Victoria, sometime around 1960.
The Bond Minicar was first designed by Lawrie Bond in 1948. The compact, lightweight vehicle quickly attracted attention in post-war Britain for its efficiency and quirky design – perfect for the era’s narrow roads and modest fuel budgets.
And as this photo proves, a few of these charming little cars even made their way to Malta and Gozo, turning heads on our island roads decades ago.
Have you ever seen one?
