Commemorative event in honour of the Gozitan poet, linguist and researcher Frank Mercieca, featuring an address by John Cremona and musical interludes by the BrassTubes Ensemble under the direction of Mark Gauci.A dairy foreman by profession, Frank Mercieca was born in Victoria on the 30th of August 1937. Later in life, he dedicated himself to agriculture and the study of the Maltese language. He wrote numerous articles in local papers debating recent changes in Malta orthography and grammar. He also wrote poetry. A key figure in St George's Square, Mercieca was also surrounded by an attentive group of friends debating current affairs, history and the Maltese language. He passed away on the 9th of November, 2011.Admission is free but seat reservation is recommended by sending an email.
