Emma’s Kitchen is launching a new Sunday Brunch menu starting this weekend!
We are SO ready.

Sarah Micallef

There are a couple of things that have earned me the much-maligned basic white girl title. One of them is that my coffee order reads like a short essay (chai latte with almond milk and an extra espresso shot, if you’re wondering), but mainly because I’m obsessed with brunch. And we’re not talking about that phoney late-breakfast-referred-to-as-brunch type deal. We’re talking about a proper boozy brunch, mimosas and all.

And now, local favourite hipster haven emma’s kitchen has spoken to my basic soul – the San Gwann café is launching a brand-new all-day brunch menu which will be served on Sundays, and it starts this weekend!

“I’ve been low-key planning it for about a year, brainstorming the dishes I wanted on the menu and planning logistics,” café owner and kitchen whizz Emma Warrington tells me. “I thought it would be fun to have a totally new menu for Sunday. It’s a little fancier than our usual fare and allows you to really treat yourself.”

Having had a little sneak peek at the menu, I can reveal that there are some very exciting options, including poached eggs royale, breakfast tacos and even a breakfast noodle dish! Meanwhile, aperitifs and cocktails on offer include classic brunch favourites like mimosas and bellinis, as well as personal favs aperol spritz and a sexy-sounding elderflower spritz.

“We’ve been wondering if anyone will go for the full four courses (starter, savoury breakfast, hotcakes/French toast for dessert, and finishing with one of the cheeses on offer, for which we’ve teamed up with Michael Tabone Atelier. We’re always on the hunt for customers with lots of stamina!” Emma laughs.
