For some it may sound esoteric and mystical, but many ancient cultures have attributed symbolism to the animals that appear in their lives, whether in dreams or their waking life. While it's highly unlikely you'll meet a bear or wolf in the Maltese countryside, these other animals you might meet have some symbolic meaning too!

The chameleon is a symbol of change. It also symbolises sensitivity, clairvoyance and the ability to adjust to the environment in order to blend in and create harmony. It encourages you to be curious, tune into your feelings and intuition, and to be flexible and resourceful.

The hedgehog is a symbol of protection, intelligence, inner wisdom and resourcefulness. It encourages you to celebrate your uniqueness, perception, endurance and vitality. It also encourages you to stay calm and to trust your intuition.

The thrush is a symbol of healthy relationships. It appears as a congratulatory animal totem to announce that a solid, long-term relationship is here, whether personal or in business. The song of the Maltese Blue Rock Thrush is the sound of sweet celebration.
