Discover BEWYLD: the low-fi, quirky festival bringing together local and international acts
The perfect spot for the enthusiastic to soar!

BEWYLD is a wild mini-festival that will blast out lo-fi, quirky tunes at Tigullio in St Julian's, this weekend on the 21st and 22nd of September. Organised by Be-Wild events and Valletta 2018, BEWYLD promotes creativity and a full-spirited devotion to unconventional music.

The festival is brought to Malta by Shawn James after being exposed to a sample of the wacky and playful acts carefully curated by talented music artists in Berlin. With the many DJs, solo artists and bands evolving this sound and developing their creations into a fully fledged music genre, Lo-Fi and Quirky Music will run through the BEWYLD speakers, converting the party goers as they dance to the beat.

Shawn explains, “I became more engaged in the weirdness of image, style, set-up and voice. Therefore when BEWYLD was being brewed I wanted to put on something fresh, something new and fun - a festival for everyone to dance to.” The word BEWYLD can be defined as, 'being enthusiastic about something or someone' - the perfect name for an energetic gathering that many are looking forward to. And the arrival of this new music genre will give Malta a burst of enthusiasm for the ideal end-of-summer bash.

This DIY event will bring together local and international acts where collaborations between established and blossoming artists can be performed in a safe and creative space. Another quirky approach that this mini-festival will adopt is to omit opening acts so as to create an eclectic mix of music genres for the two nights. This philosophy creates the perfect platform for all artists to perform as pros: “every musician is a headliner in their own unique way,” says Shawn, adding that all artists on the same level.

BEWYLD holds the promise of being another festival focused around creativity, individuality and expression through music. And the good thing is, well, we can never have too many of them!
