Experience Malta by sea! Hop on the Filfla, Sunset & Grand Harbour evening cruise this July
On Saturday, 12th July 2025, Heritage Malta is inviting, both locals and tourists alike, to discover the island’s coastal charm with a sunset cruise to Filfla, followed by a scenic return through the historic Grand Harbour.
Departing from Sliema Ferries at 6:00pm, this unique evening experience offers a rare opportunity to view the mysterious islet of Filfla, learning about its geological formation, its intriguing name, and its colourful past; from pirate tales to military use as a bombing target.
Today, Filfla is a protected nature reserve, home to rare seabirds, native plants, and sometimes even dolphins and turtles, which lucky participants may spot during the journey.
As the sun sets over the Mediterranean, the cruise continues past Malta’s eastern and southern coastline, culminating in a tranquil glide into the Grand Harbour; one of the most spectacular natural harbours in Europe.
Along the way, guests will take in panoramic views of centuries-old fortifications including Fort St Elmo, Fort St Angelo, and Fort Ricasoli, while soaking in the rich maritime history that spans from ancient times to the present day.
The evening includes nibbles and a glass of Prosecco, adding to the relaxed atmosphere onboard. The cruise will return to Sliema by 11:00pm.
Tickets are priced at €50 for adults, €45 for seniors and students, and €40 for Heritage Malta members. Bookings can be made at all Heritage Malta museums and sites or online here.
