Heritage Malta is inviting families to step back in time for an exciting and educational adventure with Code Breaking, a hands-on historical quest designed especially for young explorers.
Taking place on Sunday 22 February 2026, from 9:30am to 11:00am, the event will unfold within the impressive settings of Fort St Elmo and the National War Museum in Valletta.
Aimed at children aged 7 to 11, Code Breaking transforms history into a lively, interactive experience. Participants will be transported into the tense atmosphere of the Second World War, where secret communication could change the course of events.
Through engaging activities, children will discover how messages were sent securely using morse code and early cryptology techniques, and why these skills were so crucial during wartime.
Working in teams, young codebreakers will put their newly acquired knowledge to the test by cracking secret messages, encouraging collaboration, logical thinking, and problem-solving. Those who successfully complete the challenge will be rewarded with a small gift in recognition of their efforts.
Tickets are available online and from any Heritage Malta museum or site. Additional adult tickets can be purchased on site for €5, making this a perfect Sunday morning outing for the whole family.
