Close shave! Record-breaking European heatwave NARROWLY misses Malta
Luckily, Malta won't be feeling the heat!

Kim Vella

For the first time in a very long time, Malta’s expected to be considerably cooler than most European countries.

Weather forecasts are predicting that a heatwave will hit Europe this week, with unbearable highs of 45°C expected to hit Badajoz, Spain.

Luckily, Malta is expected to remain relatively unscathed…

Local Facebook page Maltese Islands Weather is predicting highs of 35°C to hit the islands throughout the week.

"Temperatures in the Maltese Islands will also increase but will remain comfortable in comparison," the page explained.

These are the intense temperatures Europe is set to experience over the coming week:

  • Spain: 45°C (in Badajoz)
  • France: 44°C (in Nantes and Rennes),
  • Portugal: 43°C (in Braga)
  • Luxembourg: 43°C (in Diekirch)
  • Belgium: 41°C (in Tournai)
  • Germany: 41°C (in Frankfurt)
  • Italy: 40°C (in Florence and Bologna)
  • Switzerland: 39°C (in Basel)
  • Netherlands: 38°C (in Venlo)
  • United Kingdom: 36°C (in London)
  • Austria: 36°C (in Innsbruck)

The Malta International Airport (MIA) meteorological office is mostly in agreement with Maltese Islands Weather, forecasting that the highest temperature the Maltese islands will experience this week is 34°C!
