For many locals, the word ‘panina’ conjures up memories of school lunches – a humble yet beloved snack, typically filled with ham, cheese, or whatever the tuck shop offered that day. Now, a food spot that has embraced that nostalgic bite has opened its fifth outlet in Malta.
Panina has officially opened its fifth outlet in Żebbuġ, bringing its take on the classic Maltese snack to a new corner of the island. Located on Triq Luret Cutajar, the Żebbuġ outlet is spread over two floors and includes seating for dine-in customers. It will also be keeping extended hours over the weekend, remaining open until 10PM from Friday through Sunday.
The brand, which is approaching its third anniversary, has steadily grown in popularity, offering a menu that goes beyond the typical stuffed bread. Alongside panini, the eatery also serves pinsa (a Roman-style flatbread) available all day, and other fast-casual items aimed at those looking for a quick but filling bite.
According to their announcement, the new outlet will continue to focus on the same principles that helped Panina gain its following: offering fresh food, friendly service, and value for money.
With outlets now spread across Malta – in Fgura, Santa Venera, Gżira, Naxxar and now Żebbuġ – and a loyal customer base, Panina’s expansion reflects a growing appetite for food spots that combine comfort and convenience, and that tap into a little local nostalgia too!
