A slice of glory! Salumeria Gardens becomes first Maltese pizzeria in world’s top 100
Pizza lovers, rejoice! Local favourite Salumeria Gardens in St Julian’s has just made Maltese culinary history by being ranked among the Top 100 pizzerias in the world.
The announcement was made at the ‘Top100 Pizza’ awards held in Milan on Wednesday night, where Salumeria Gardens clinched the #98 spot on the highly respected global list – a first for any restaurant in Malta.
‘We’re incredibly proud to represent Malta on the world stage,’ said founders Pablo and Max Kuilboer. ‘Being named among the top 100 pizzerias globally is beyond our wildest expectations. It’s a testament to our team’s passion, hard work, and belief that great pizza can come from anywhere – even a small island in the Mediterranean.’
The annual Top100 Pizza awards are considered the gold standard in the global pizza community, celebrating excellence, innovation, and tradition in pizza-making. The event also serves as a hub for top pizza chefs, journalists, and industry trailblazers from around the world to connect and share their love for the craft.
Over 500 international guests attend the event, including more than 300 of the world's leading pizza chefs. With a voting panel made up of 512 experts from 60 countries, the awards promise transparency and independence, with no commercial influence and full voting rights left to the chefs themselves.
With this win, Salumeria Gardens has not only earned international acclaim, but also put Malta on the global map for pizza lovers everywhere, proving once and for all that world-class pizza doesn’t have to come from Naples!
Well done to the Salumeria Gardens team!
