Brace yourselves! Gale-force winds and rain expected this coming weekend
Maybe spring isn’t right around the corner after all.

Emma Galea

If you were thinking of spending a nice day out this weekend, you might want to reconsider your plans…

Turns out Malta’s set to experience some Gale-force winds, which may potentially develop into severe Gale-force winds towards the end of the week.

Said winds are making their way over to the islands from the East and East-South-East.

Said weather is the result of “the contrast between an unseasonably strong wintry anticyclone over Northern Europe and a heat low-pressure system over Northern Africa,” the Malta Weather Facebook page wrote.

forecast

According to the Malta International Airport’s meteorological office, the effects of said wind are set to start impacting the islands as early as tomorrow, Thursday 17th March, with winds expected to reach Force Six.

These will persist all throughout the weekend, when they will also be coupled with rain.

Stay safe out there!
