Bark up the park! These 3 pooch-friendly parks in Malta will make your dog's day
Treat yo’ pups.

Kristina Cassar Dowling

Malta is quite the dog-friendly island. We love our pups and we want to take them everywhere with us. A good portion of local restaurants allow dogs into their establishments, with some asking diners with pooches to sit in their outdoor areas while others are totally fine with pups sitting indoors too!

But, sometimes you just want to take your dog to a place that’s designed for him - somewhere special where he can run and play with other like-minded animals. Head to one of Malta's three dog parks, places where man’s best friend can bask in the glory of free open space, while chasing other tails and sniffing all those doggie butts.

1. Sant Antnin Family Park

As the name suggests, this is a family park which features a small, yet comfortable, off-leash dog area. It is ideal for families with both children and their canine friends and provides a space where their little loved ones can be entertained at the weekend or after school.

This dog park is situated in Marsascala and features training obstacles for the pooches to enjoy.

2. San Gwann Dog Park

Wied Ghomor has a dedicated small section of bountiful valley - which was opened to the public only a few years ago - to serve as a great spot for dogs in the region to break a sweat in the fenced up area. Despite its limited space, this park is also a great spot for dog owners to sit and relax under the trees.

It is also surrounded by idyllic scenery, perfect for a picnic or a prance!

3. Ta’ Qali Dog Park

By far the best on the list, the Ta’ Qali Park is open to the general public throughout the day and dogs are welcome to run freely in the large green area - though only for a specified set of hours, daily. This space gives dog owners the peace of mind to allow their dogs a little bit of freedom, knowing they are welcome in the area.

This park has a training spot full of different equipment for dogs of all sizes. Meet-ups for different dog breeds are also held here on a monthly or bimonthly basis.

A word of advice: whenever you take your dog out in public, be sure to pack all the essentials you and your pooch may need such as a bottle of water and a water bowl, poo bags, tissues or dog wipes, a fun toy and a load of treats to let him know he’s been a really good boy!
