In this day and age, the fate of a traditional Maltese house can go in one of two ways: it could be knocked down to create space for apartments in keeping with current trends, or it could be restored. Thankfully, these seven houses around the Maltese Islands were lucky enough to have experienced the latter, and look fabulous for it!
1. Sliema
This corner townhouse in Sliema was beautifully brought back to life. The turquoise shutters totally compliment the white railings, and that bright pink bougainvillea compliments the balcony.

2. Guardamangia
Check out these before and after shots of this house in Guardamangia! She’s looking mighty fine after a lot of hard work was put into her restoration.

3. Victoria, Gozo
Red is always a bold choice! This magnificent house in Victoria on Malta’s sister isle is quite the site for sore eyes. Isn’t she a stunner?

4. Hamrun
What a beauty! This gorgeous townhouse in Hamrun got some much-needed TLC and is looking spectacular. It makes you want to stop and snap!

5. Nadur
Gozo’s quiet village of Nadur is a stunner, and this restored house of character adds to that beauty. It also apparently took quite some time to complete, but everything went smoothly and it’s now in tip-top shape!

6. Kirkop
A true testament to traditional Maltese houses! This beauty was restored earlier this year and we’ve got to say – they did one heck of a job!

7. Sliema
Another Sliema one! This town was full of gorgeous houses back in the day, before it became the built-up commercial area it is today. I mean, just look at those windows!
