An unpublished study related to COVID-19 among the Maltese has suggested local immunity may be on the low side.

This was revealed by top virologist Dr Chris Barbara, who said that although the study was yet unfinished, evidence at hand pointed that Malta may not be as immune to the virus as is currently being thought.

He also announced the study will be completed shortly and its findings made public in the coming days. This was revealed in a Times of Malta article.

Dr Barbara, Mater Dei Hospital’s pathology department chief, has been analysing blood samples from Malta's 618 reported cases for the past few weeks to determine Malta's immunity rate.
