The Floriana local council has approved the proposal to name part of a street in the locality after the late Maltese literary giant, Oliver Friggieri, who passed away last November.

The proposal was put forward by Minority Leader within the council, James Aaron Ellul in November. Ellul shares that part of the existing Triq l-Argotti (as indicated on the below map) will now be named Triq il-Prof. Oliver Friggieri. It also happens to be very close to where the poet used to live.

In his post on socials, Ellul shared that they are also looking into creating a bust or monument near his former residence. “I was lucky enough to be his friend, so it is only fitting that what he gave us we pass down to others,” Ellul concluded.
