A monument in honour of the late and great Prof. Oliver Friggieri is to be created, the Office of the Prime Minister has announced.

The statement said that next week, Heritage Malta will be inviting artists to submit proposals for the memorial that will celebrate the Maltese scholar.

Through this monument, Friggieri’s name will be remembered, Abela said, also thanking the literary giant for his contribution to Malta and the Maltese, particularly in the development of Maltese language and literature.

Prof. Friggieri passed away on Saturday 21st November and was given a state funeral yesterday. He leaves behind a rich literary legacy loved by many.

From all of us, thank you, Prof.
