Animal sanctuary volunteer speaks out: We urgently need quilts and pet food
The pandemic has put a heavy strain on animal sanctuaries

The struggles of animal shelters during the Coronavirus pandemic have increased drastically, and one local volunteer has spoken out about the need for quilts and pet food donations to continue ensuring the wellbeing of animals in their care.

Charmaine Farrugia, who assists both Noah's Ark in Mellieha and the Association for Abandoned Animals in B'Buga, confirmed a list of items these animal sanctuaries are desperately looking for: "To be used as bedding we need blankets, sheets and used clothes," she said.

The volunteer also confirmed other items needed: "Both dry and wet food is also needed," she said. Ever willing to help the cause, Charmaine is offering to pick up any materials herself from households willing to donate to these animal shelters: "Preferably, collections would be from south areas but due to the situation I will go further if need be," she said.

In the case of Noah's Ark, which is situated in the North of Malta, the sanctuary permits such items to be dropped off directly outside its doors. Those unable to furnish such items can help out by sending a small donation to an animal sanctuary of their choice.

Let's not forget about the disadvantaged pooches out there!
