A piece of Malta architectural history is saved as Palazzina Vincenti will NOT be demolished
The building is 20th century architectural marvel.
Malta’s Planning Authority (PA) have announced that Palazzina Vincenti in St Julians will not be demolished as it declares it as a Grade 2 building.
There is still a pending planning application for the demolition of this 20th century building.

However, now that building was given a Grade 2 status, “the development application will need to be radically modified to ensure that the palazzina is restored back to its original glory, which it so well deserves”, the PA stated.
The PA concluded that “Palazzina Vincenti has outstanding historical and contextual value and is a pioneering example of modernist architecture that made use of reinforced concrete in a domestic setting in the Maltese Islands”.
The history behind Palazzina Vincenti is a rich one. It was built after World War II by architect Gustavo R. Vincenti to be used as his own home. It’s one the best and few examples of modernist architecture in Malta.
The Palazzina, found along the St Julians promenade is still pretty run down but with these new measures it definitely won’t be torn down.
