During the sacred period of Holy Week in Malta, the much-anticipated ‘Mixegħla tal-Ġimgħa Mqaddsa’ will once again illuminate Valletta, taking place in St George’s Square from April 1st to 3rd.

Organised by the Valletta Cultural Agency, this annual installation has become a meaningful highlight in the capital’s cultural and religious calendar.

Created by local artist Keith Zerafa, the installation blends artistic expression with spiritual symbolism, offering visitors a unique space for quiet reflection. Each year, a completely new and original design is featured, ensuring that no two editions are the same.

Through the careful use of light, structure, and sacred imagery, the installation transforms the square into an intimate and contemplative environment.

Set against the historic backdrop of Valletta, the installation invites both locals and visitors to pause and connect with the deeper significance of Holy Week. It serves not only as a visual spectacle but also as a reminder of the importance of faith, tradition, and community during this solemn time.

The ‘Mixegħla tal-Ġimgħa Mqaddsa’ continues to stand as a powerful fusion of art and devotion in the heart of Malta’s capital.
