Visitors to Malta’s Grand Harbour Marina in Vittoriosa have been treated to a rare display of maritime luxury, as two of the world’s most valuable superyachts berth alongside one another.
Artefact and Vibrant Curiosity, each worth around €150 million, are currently turning heads on the Cottonera waterfront, their combined presence a howcase of wealth, design, and engineering mastery.
Built in 2020 by the German shipyard Nobiskrug, Artefact quickly claimed international acclaim, winning Motor Yacht of the Year in 2021. Stretching 80 metres, this hybrid superyacht is owned by Mike Lazaridis, co-founder of BlackBerry and a pioneer in quantum computing.

With its advanced diesel-electric propulsion, solar panels, and lithium batteries, Artefact operates 30% more efficiently than traditional vessels of its size.
Inside, it dazzles with features such as a Tai Chi room, cinema, and a dining table designed for 14 guests, all framed by 70 tons of curved glass. Its annual upkeep is estimated at €10–15 million.
Launched in 2009 by Oceanco and refitted in 2015, Vibrant Curiosity belongs to German billionaire Reinhold Würth, chairman of the Würth Group. At 85 metres long, she boasts nine luxury cabins, a helipad, swimming pool, jacuzzi, and a beach club, all serviced by a crew of 26. Her running costs reach roughly €15 million annually.
Together, the two superyachts display modern luxury and innovation...an awe-inspiring sight against the historic backdrop of Malta’s Grand Harbour.
