This festive season, Heritage Malta is inviting the public to embrace the warmth, wonder, and nostalgia of Christmas in some of the country’s most historic settings.

Through a series of thoughtfully curated events, families and visitors of all ages can rediscover the traditions that have shaped the islands’ cultural tapestry throughout the centuries.

The celebrations begin on Sunday 14th December with Christmas at the Museum at the National Museum of Natural History in Mdina. Set within the majestic Vilhena Palace, the museum will be transformed into a festive haven glowing with twinkling lights and seasonal décor. Guests will be invited to wander through its grand halls while enjoying live performances, hands-on activities for children, and an array of delicious festive snacks and warm beverages. The joyful atmosphere will be crowned by a very special guest, Santa Claus, who will be present to greet young visitors and collect their heartfelt Christmas letters. Entry is donation-based, with proceeds supporting L-Istrina, making this event one of celebration and generosity.

Creativity and tradition blend beautifully on Saturday 20th December at the Inquisitor’s Palace in Birgu with the enchanting workshop Christmas Baubles and Imbuljuta. Open to children aged seven and above, the session offers a chance to craft personalised Christmas baubles, little treasures to cherish or gift, while also learning to prepare imbuljuta, the beloved Maltese chocolate and chestnut drink that brings comfort to winter evenings.

The festive spirit continues on Sunday 21st December with an exclusive Heritage Malta Members’ Christmas cooking session, celebrating the flavours of Maltese holiday heritage. Participants will learn to prepare both imbuljuta and the timeless pudina, each recipe infused with memories of family kitchens and seasonal joy.
