A collector’s gem! Rare 1986 Malta football shirt worn against Italy now up for sale
A rare piece of Maltese football history is up for grabs - a vintage home shirt worn during Malta’s EURO qualifier match against Italy on December 6th, 1986, is being sold for €834.
According to TSPN Calcio, the unique short-sleeved shirt, featuring a diagonal design, was only used on that single occasion by the national team, making it a true collector’s item.
The shirt was worn by Michael Degiorgio, one of Malta’s most capped players, who represented the country 78 times between 1981 and 1993.
Despite a strong showing in the match, Malta fell 2-0 to Italy, with Italian striker Alessandro Altobelli notably missing two penalties during the game.
