A clean sweep! Malta International Airport wins ACI Cleanliness Award for the first time
The local airport ranks among Europe’s best for the eighth consecutive year.
Malta International Airport has ranked among Europe’s top airports in the 5 to 15 million passenger category for the eighth consecutive year, and has now secured the prestigious Cleanliness Award for the very first time.
The recognition was announced on Tuesday by Airports Council International (ACI) as part of its Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey programme.
The rankings are derived from feedback collected throughout 2025 from departing passengers at 383 airports worldwide participating in the ASQ programme, with roughly one-third of the airports located in Europe.
Malta International Airport outperformed the European average across all 31 satisfaction indicators, which assess every stage of the passenger journey – from terminal signage to the helpfulness of frontline staff.
The airport achieved its highest score – an impressive 4.60 out of 5 – for its security screening process. Security was ranked as the second most important contributor to the overall airport experience by surveyed passengers.
Congratulations to MIA!
