7 Instagram fads we're all guilty of trying
Guilty? #sorrynotsorry

Kristina Cassar Dowling

Paired with the perfect hashtag, a few location tags and the obvious profile tags - your Instagram feed could very well become your full time job. But when your ideas start to run dry; there are always the guilty pleasure fads we all follow and contribute to. Here are some of the top Instagram trends we’re so guilty of trying out.

Food porn

Let’s order the veggie burger - that way we can add #vegan to our copy, oh, and ask for the #glutenfree bun too. We’re so guilty of planning our food shots, our orders are sometimes conditioned by what we think is #foodporn.

The selfie

Whether it’s in a car, bathroom mirror or the obscure candid selfie - we’re all a little in love with ourselves, and the best way to show it off is in a selfie. Is that such a bad thing?

Follow me

We keep coming across this one, and let's fact it, it is getting a little old. An artistic shot of your better half stretching out his or her arm to guide you through the crowd so as to say, 'follow me, I’ll show you the way'.

Puppy shot

Here in Malta, boy do we love our pets. They're furry extensions of our family and excellent Instagram models, so the proud pet owner has been known to flood their grids with 'adorable' shots of their furry friend. Guilty as charged here - I'm not even going to fight it!

Airport shot

These come in many forms. They could be top shots of your boarding tickets, showing off which destination you’ll be hitting next, possibly a wing shot taken prior to landing, and selfies alongside the plane. #wanderlust anyone?

OOTD

This one if for all the fashionistas out there, who rock their way down the local promenades decked out in the latest fashions. Even though this may not be one for the majority, we all secretly wish we could!

Local special: 4am pastizzi shot

This one’s a classic. Replace the pastizzi with a hot dog in the US and a chippy in the UK and you’ve got your instant hangover cure. This #foodgoals shot usually features your crazy friends, still buzzed from the party vibes.

Apart from trends, Instagram is loaded with challenges that go viral (even accidentally) at times. Get your Insta on point and don’t forget those hashtags! How many can you fit in on your Malta holiday?
