Give a little where it's needed this Christmas

Besides all the festive fun of Christmas shopping, mulled wine and ice skating, this special season is all about giving to the less fortunate, and all the stars are on board too! GuideMeMalta caught up with some of our fave local celebs and personalities to find out who they will be donating to this Christmas. Here's what they had to share!

"I think the most incredible thing you can donate is time. Sometimes going out of your way to help people - whether it’s voluntary work abroad or within institutes, or whether it’s at the orphanage or with animals, giving someone your time is more precious than any materialistic thing to me."

"The Clintess chooses Happy Paws Charity Organisation in Marsa as her selected charity to donate this Christmas. This charity strives to be a helping hand for all stray animals in Malta, and the people decide to take care of them. It is so nice to think that this non-profit NGO gives back something positive to these abandoned creatures."

"This Christmas I’ve decided to focus on helping individuals who I know really need help this time of year. At the moment we are trying to help a very poor woman who is raising eight kids on her own, which is impossible without our help. We need to remember that donating isn’t only about the money but it’s also about giving your time by lending a helping hand or even listening to someone’s troubles. If we all dig deep into certain parts of Malta we’ll realize how many people struggle with even the simplest of basics like putting food on the table for their kids this Christmas. Something we all take so much for granted!"

"During the lead up to my 30th birthday concert last May, I had the opportunity to learn more about the services that the Richmond Foundation offers, and how a big chunk of people actually suffer from mental health issues. The more time goes by the more awareness is being given to this subject and how it affects 46 per cent of the population at one point or another in their lifetime. The only way the Richmond Foundation can continue to provide its services for free to the people who have the courage to seek it is by means of our donations; therefore I take this opportunity to ask you to celebrate your mental wellbeing by helping those who need it - especially at this time of year."

"I lost many people close to me due to cancer, and admire Puttinu Cares a lot as a charity because they dedicate all their energy to helping and saving others. There are so many others organisations who are great too, but Puttinu Cares are my favourite. They’re real heroes without capes and have saved so many lives affected by cancer already. I love my country because the Maltese people are so big-hearted when it comes to these things. As they say - Malta zgħira u qalbha kbira!"
