Malta ranks bang in the middle at number 5 on Conde Nast’s list, who had some lovely words to say about our quaint islands, particularly the capital. With an average October temperature of 25°C, “Malta is blessed with an outrageously sunny climate,” writer Laura Chubb says, noting that “even in December, you’ll see more than five hours of sunshine a day.”

“It’s capital, Valletta, is a delight," she continues, describing "honey-coloured forts and cobbled streets, sun-dappled squares and back-alley wine bars, churches hung with Caravaggio originals and a budding crop of high-design hotels.” Laura also gives readers a handy tip about our islands: “Make time to explore outside the city walls, where you’ll find sandy beaches, quaint fishing villages and true-blue lagoons to laze around.”
