The St. Helen’s Band Club of Birkirkara is set to reach a major milestone this September as it embarks on its 10th international musical tour, travelling to Quartu Sant’Elena in Sardinia for the local feast of Saint Helena.

Between the 10th and 15th September, more than 180 people from Malta, including musicians, members, families and supporters, will make the journey to join the Sardinian community in a celebration centred on faith, music and tradition.

During their stay, the band will provide four musical services, presenting a varied programme of vocal and instrumental pieces alongside traditional and lively marches. The performances will bring the streets of Quartu Sant’Elena to life while adding a distinctly Maltese touch to the festivities.

One of the special moments of the visit will be a Mass celebrated in Maltese, organised specifically for the Maltese contingent. The occasion will allow participants to celebrate their faith together while further strengthening the friendship between the two communities.

The highlight of the tour will be the St. Helen’s Band’s participation in the solemn procession carrying the statue of Saint Helena, bringing together the religious devotion and musical traditions shared by Malta and Sardinia.

The milestone tour also reflects the Band Club’s longstanding commitment to promoting Maltese musical heritage and festa traditions overseas.

What an achievement!
