Gearing up for theatre season:
Every night from Thursday, 6 September – Sunday, 9 September from 8pm: Boulevard – Teatru Manoel

In commemoration of the 25th anniversary since the death of famed Maltese playwright Francis Ebejer, the dance theatre performance of Ebejer’s Boulevard, written in 1964, has been adapted to the present-time and is being put up on the same stage where it originally premiered. Teatru Malta is setting the scene, in collaboration with Teatru Manoel and dance troupe ŻfinMalta, who will be joined on stage by guest actors Antonella Axisa, Aron Fenech, Thomas Camilleri and Stephen Mintoff, among others. The show is being directed by Toni Attard and choreographed by Paolo Mangiola.
Thursday, 6 September from 7.30pm: MADC One-Act Play Festival 2018 – MADC Clubrooms, St Venera

But, for those with less experience – and not as much clout – the MADC One-Act Play Festival has proven to be crucial in launching the careers of many a local thespian. This veteran show – now coming into its 40th year – consists of five plays being performed and directed by budding artists. Keep an eye out for the new talent being rolled out! Tickets from here.

Wednesday, 5 September at 7.30pm-8.30pm: Learn to Meditate – Sanya, Naxxar

As summer draws to a close, bringing shorter days and cooler temperatures with it, some introspection, calm and head space may be needed. Indeed, learning how to feel your best – in every way – ranks on the top of many an agenda. Health centre Sanya in Naxxar is offering some help in this regard with their Learn to Meditate sessions (buy tickets from here), which give an overview of basic meditation philosophy. It will also teach you some exercises to get you in the zone, new techniques and ways in which to make the most of this time to yourself.

Thursday, 6 September from 6.30pm – 9.30pm: Cook Maltese Cuisine at the Mediterranean Culinary Academy – Valletta

Just because you’ve decided not to overindulge during the week, it doesn’t mean there’s no scope for treating your taste buds. As it has been doing throughout the summer, the Mediterranean Culinary Academy will be celebrating Maltese culture and cuisine through this workshop which will focus on local ingredients, cooking methods and flavours. You will get to learn how to create your very own Maltese dish, and feast on it afterwards, accompanied by a glass of Maltese wine.
Tuesday, 4 September from 9pm: Valletta Pub Crawl – starting from Triton Square

Variety is the spice of life, or so they say. Brush up on your knowledge of Valletta’s pubs and watering holes with this tour-with-a-difference, which will take you around the capital to capture the flavours of the city’s nightlife. The ticket price includes four entry drinks, discounts at the featured bars which include The Beer Cave, La Bottega, Tico Tico and Carcass. You can keep going till 4am – testing your endurance – so make sure you have some time off in the morning.
