Tuesday 20 February: The Florida Project – St James Cavalier, Valletta

The 2017 American drama will be showing at the cinema within St James Cavalier this Tuesday. It tells the story of Moonee, a precocious six-year- old and her ragtag group of friends, whose summer break is filled with wonder, mischief and adventure while the adults around them struggle with hard times. Wednesday 21 February: F Is For Fake – The Royal British Legion Bar, Valletta
Kinemastik
Hosted by producer and academic Charlie Cauchi through Kinemastik – a local NGO responsible for the Kinemastik International Short Film Festival and a year-round cultural programme – F for Fake (Vérités et mensonges, “Truths and lies”) is considered the last major film completed by Orson Welles, who co-wrote, starred, and co-directed the film with François Reichenbach, Oja Kodar, and Gary Graver. Initially released in 1974, it focuses on Elmyr de Hory's recounting of his career as a professional art forger. More info here.

Wednesday 21 February: Jazz Duo – Yard 32, Valletta
Angie Vella Zarb
Angie Vella Zarb (vocals) and Karl Galea (guitar) collaborate to perform an eclectic set of vocal jazz and blues standards in the heart of Valletta, from the Great American Songbook and more contemporary compositions. Whilst also working together regularly with gypsy-jazz project Swing Nuages, they hit a sweet spot performing as a duo, with an intimate yet swinging vibe. More info here.
Thursday 22 February: Swing Nights – La Tartine, Mosta
La Tartine
Take in the views of the majestic Mosta dome during these Thursday night jazz sessions with Swing Nuages. The band kicks off at 8pm and swing till 10:30pm, with food and cocktail offers available throughout the evening. The space in this small café is limited, so don’t hesitate to call or leave a message on their facebook page to book a table.
Thursday 22 February: Met Opera in Cinema – L’Elisir d’Amore – St James Cavalier, Valletta

L’Elisir d’Amore has been among the most consistently popular operatic comedies for almost two centuries, and will now be showing at the Cinema at St James Cavalier. The story deftly combines comic archetypes with a degree of genuine character development rare in works of this type. Its ending is as much a foregone conclusion as it would be in a romantic comedy film today—the joy is in the journey, and Donizetti created one of his most instantly appealing scores for this ride. Thursday 22 February: Mikkeller in Malta – City Lights, Valletta
Brew Haus Malta
Mikkeller is Denmark's number one craft brewery, and Brew Haus Malta is excited to showcase their epic beers in Valletta – a celebration of premium craft beer paired with live, funky beats by Jam Bo Sessions. Expect at least 10 unique beers on the night, including some very rare beers on tap, which will only be available for the showcase. More info here.

If you like a spot of gaming, this is the place to do it with like-minded people. Featuring a selection of board games to play if you want to try something new, or revisit an old classic.
