Tuesday, 14 August – Thursday, 16 August from 5pm: Summer Daze Malta - Uno Village, Ta' Qali

Summer Daze Malta / Facebook
Is Malta making an attempt at becoming the next Ibiza? The parties this week seem to be making a case for it, with parties such as this season’s Summer Daze Malta taking place at Uno Village in Ta’ Qali. Creamfields Malta and BBC R1 Dance are collaborating to organise the event, welcoming back Martin Garrix, Rita Ora and Danny Howard. There will be dancing, dancing and a sunset pool party to help you cool down after all that dancing!
Of feasts and parties:
Wednesday, 15 August from 3pm – midnight: Crush: Santa Marija Day Party - Surfside Beach Club, Sliema

Surfside / Facebook
The Santa Marija holiday usually screams two things: beach and Gozo! But, if you’re looking to do something out of the norm, yet still want to let your hair down (quite a bit), Surfside has another option: their Crush, Santa Marija Day Party, consisting of an open bar from 3pm – 5pm, slashed prices on all food and cocktails and free entrance. Pace yourselves if you want to last all night!
Wednesday, 15 August from 6:30pm: Circus Arts Playground - Golden Bay, Manikata

Circus Arts Playground / Facebook
The Circus Arts Playground at Golden Bay is also going ahead this week, as it has the previous few weeks. It’s bound to be busier with so many people off work, but still promises the eclectic mix of “jamming, music, juggling, fire play, AcroYoga and slacklining” – phew! We’re curious to know how all that fits in one evening!
Cool down after the public holiday:
Thursday, 16 August from 6pm – 11pm: 1926 Thursdays - 1926 Beach Club, Qui-si-sana, Sliema; Thursday, 16 August from 9pm: Jeudi Jazz - Offbeat, Valletta

1926 Beach Club / Facebook
The bridge between a public holiday and a weekend – as is this Thursday – is often simply part of the extended holiday! Beach, shower, drinks and music. That’s the pattern all days should fall into. And this week, they actually can. 1926 Thursdays, taking place at the eponymous beach club in Qui-Si-Sana, Sliema is determined to help you keep it chilled. The view is fantastic – one of the best on this end of the island – and when coupled with a light breeze, you might find you won’t want to leave too early. Across the waters, in Valletta, Offbeat is opening its doors to its weekly Jeudi Jazz – aptly named and aptly formed.
All week: Family Science Week – Esplora Interactive Science Centre, Bighi, Kalkara

Esplora / Facebook
The week of Santa Maria is also ripe for spending more time with the kids, but how should you keep them entertained, apart from taking them to the usual kids’ clubs and play areas? And what if they’re too old for that anyway? Esplora Interactive Science Centre in Bighi understands that learning can be fun – even during a public holiday week. They’re running Family Science Week which will include workshops for different age-groups, science shows and planetarium films. You might find you have as much of a blast as your little ‘uns!
Perchance to dream:
Monday, 13 August from 8:30pm – 10:15pm: Solar Cinema Boy and the World – Chinese Garden of Serenity, Santa Luċija; Thursday, 16 August from 6:30pm – 11:30pm: Elvis: Fifty Years '68 Comeback Special – Embassy Cinemas, Valletta

Malta Bulb / Facebook
It’s not all parties (thankfully) and there is a chance to take it down a few notches and kick back. Solar Cinema is heading to the Chinese Garden of Serenity for their screening tonight – and what a relief it will be to sit in the Zen-ified surroundings of gurgling streams and balanced curvatures, watching the hand-drawn animated feature film Boy and the World. And for those who think the King is not dead – at least in your hearts – Thursday’s screening of Elvis: Fifty Years '68 Comeback Special at the Embassy in Valletta might just be what you’ve been waiting for.
