For the little ones:

Monday 12 & Tuesday 13 February: Cliché - Toi Toi Moves – Manoel Theatre

Teatru Manoel

Even if the weather doesn’t hold up over the next two days, your kids can still have a whale of a time this Carnival at one of Europe's most beautiful theatres! Children, ages 3-7, are invited to the Manoel Theatre to use their imagination through a journey of excitement and thrills of fairy tales accompanied by live music. From Cinderella to Peter Pan, the Moveo Dance Company uses movement and mime to help us drift off to a fantasy world. A workshop will follow the performance and children can join the activity in their carnival costumes. For more information, check out the Manoel Theatre’s event website.

If the weather holds up:

Tuesday 13 February: Carnival’s Grand Finale - Floriana

Head down to Floriana on Tuesday evening from 6pm to 11pm, where the King Carnival Float, and his retinue, will celebrate the grand finale of this year’s Carnival celebrations. While some of the activities were cancelled this year, this is your opportunity to see the dancing companies in costume celebrate around Floriana. The event will culminate in St Anne’s Street, Floriana, for the final defilé. Zhejiang Wu Opera Troupe will also be performing. For more information, check out the website of Karnival ta’ Malta (this is in Maltese) or the Valletta 2018 site (in English).

An intellectual feast:

Thursday 15 February: Thirst – Spazju Kreattiv

Spazju Kreattiv

This performance, taking place at Spazju Kreattiv from 8pm, combines elements of dance and theatre to reflect upon the landscape of memory. The show intimates the invisible and, using the body as a place of carrying memory, explores the thirst for the feeling of home. The piece is devised at the Solo Lab Mentoring Programme led by Rosalyn Maynard, founder of The School of Experiential Learning, UK. For more information, check out the website of Spazju Kreattiv

Where the Royal Shakespeare Company comes to you:

Wednesday 14 February: Twelfth Night – RSC LIVE – Spazju Kreattiv

Spazju Kreattiv

Praised director Christopher Luscombe returns to the Royal Shakespeare Company with a new staging of Twelfth Night and broadcast live to the Spazju Kreattiv cinema from 8pm. Unbeknownst to each other, estranged siblings Sebastian and Viola wash up on the shores of Illyria — the modern-day Balkan Peninsula. Seeking work and shelter, Viola disguises herself as a man, Cesario, and finds work in the household of one Duke Orsino — a would-be suitor to the mourning Lady Olivia. A complex love triangle is set into motion as Viola falls in love with her new master, Sebastian’s reappearance re-ignites Olivia’s passion, and the servants contrive to play a cruel joke. For more information, check out the website of Spazju Kreattiv
