Saturday 10 March at 10am–7pm: Children's Cinema Day – Eden Century Cinemas, St Julian's

A highly-anticipated yearly event, Children’s Day at the Eden Century Cinemas is all about your little ones! From cartoons to the latest 2D and 3D films, it’s a moviethon to beat the best of them. Expect big blockbusters such as Black Panther, Paddington 2 and Monster family, but one of the highlights will definitely be Coco, fresh from its Oscar win. Saturday 10 March at 3pm: Kids Dig Science Electricity (Physics) – Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta

If you’ve got a mini-Sheldon on your hands, you might want to consider this. Kids Dig Science is an event aimed to instil a passion for science through puppet theatre and interactive experiments. Beautiful artefacts will be on sale in a stunning setting this weekend within the Malta Artisan Market at Palazzo de Piro in Mdina. Small, independent businesses, which specialise in the creation of artisanal quality products inspired, designed or made locally, will set up stalls. This month’s edition will showcase a range of products including woodworks, accessories, bakes and delicacies, homeware and fashion. Entrance to the market is free of charge. Play ghostbuster and explore Birgu, watching out for things which go bump in the night. The city has had its fair share of gruesome battles, with the blood-soaked Great Siege fought on the fortifications and the bombardment by the Axis during WWII, so you’re bound to find something to send chills down your spine. Celebrate women’s day:
Friday 9 March, 3:30–6:30pm & Saturday 10 March, 10am – 4pm: Art + Feminism for International Women’s Day – Blitz, Valletta

Women’s empowerment may be a buzz word at the moment, but at Blitz, it’s a reality. Art + Feminism is an international project aimed at improving content on women and the arts on Wikipedia and encouraging women’s participation in the encyclopaedia. The project’s main event is an editing workshop – Edit-a-thon – which brings people together to learn how to edit Wikipedia to create new articles and improve existing content on women and the arts. Sunday 11 March, 10am - 2pm: The Azure Window – Looking Beyond – Dwejra, Gozo

If you’re still mourning the loss of the Azure Window which crashed into the sea last year, these activities to mark the one-year anniversary are for you. Public information talks by geological experts will be given, together with sessions on the area’s flora and fauna, and, in a sign of the importance of safeguarding the area, a clean-up is also being organised by the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps. Moreover, the more adventurous will be able to abseil down rock faces, and archery sessions are being run by the Victoria Scouts group. If underwater is more your thing, diver Joseph Caruana will be at the event to shed light on the stunning underwater landscapes forged from the ruins of the iconic landmark. Heritage Malta are dedicated to bringing Malta’s cultural heritage to the general public, and this series of lectures aims to do just that. In this first session, titled ‘A historical overview of the development of Maltese urban areas’, the transformation and changes of Malta’s urban areas will be discussed in order to appreciate the historic development of local towns and villages. This not-to-be-missed comedy by Neil Simon, taking place at the MADC Playhouse in St Venera, consists of four rousing situations set in Suite 203 of the Beverley Hills Hotel. The story centres around a magazine writer from New York wrangling over custody of her daughter; a husband from Philadephia caught en flagrante delicto; an Academy Award nominee from London and her dodgy husband, and, lastly, a disastrous “couple” on vacation from Chicago. Directed by Joe Depasquale and Justin Kyle Camilleri, this promises to be an interesting and witty evening’s entertainment. Opening night (9th March) tickets at only Euro12! Brad Birch (Pinter Commission winner, 2016) takes Ibsen's An Enemy of the People into the centre of a very modern scandal. This taut and rigorous adaptation of Ibsen's classic play, En Folkfiende, examines the faultlines of municipal power as media, politics and the public good come head to head in a thrilling drama of the conflict between the personal and the public.
