Food, drink and music lay the foundations for a grand weekend.
It started in Naples:
Friday, 31st August from 7pm: Napule – Rabat Centre

The savoury parts of Naples come to Rabat tomorrow with Napule, a celebration centring on the joys of the Neapolitan pizza and other delicacies. This will be your ‘sin’ evening – with items such as fried pizza, dollops of pasta, porchetta, artisanal mozzarella and burgers on the menu, there’s no doubt you will NOT be leaving with a hole in your stomach.
Some showdowns:
Friday, 31st August from 11pm-4am: G7 Fridays 2018, Closing Party - Gianpula Main Room, Zebbug; Friday, 31st August from 10.30pm-4am: Sound Salon Fridays – Best of Sound Salon Special - Uno Malta, Crafts Village, Ta' Qali

Gianpula Village / Facebook
The last of the summer, G7 Fridays will have to wait another few months before it can dance the night away again following tomorrow night’s big bash. This staple of the summer calendar will have to make way for more subdued showdowns over the next few months. Well, not really – we’re sure Gianpula will come up with other ways of helping you forget your workweek woes! And, across the road which cuts between Zebbug and Attard, Uno Malta will also be pumping those tunes out long into the night. Both parties will be drawn out so you can even opt for both, should that rock your boat.
Apt:
Friday, 31st August and Sunday, 2nd September from 9pm: Ahna Refugjati - The Granaries, Floriana

Valletta 2018 - Capital of Culture / Facebook
This full-scale opera in Malta is touted to be a hot ticket, so you better get yours fast if its up your street. Aħna Refuġjati is timely. With news headlines being dominated by the refugee crisis – prompting many an uncouth outburst – this piece of work, directed by the (not always appropriately) controversial Mario Philip Azzopardi, has come when it’s probably needed the most. It tells the story of Eleja, his wife Shari, and their three children aged 20, 18 and 10, who flee from their war-torn village in Syria after witnessing atrocities during the civil war, in hopes of a better life in Europe. Will it have the power to change hearts and minds? We may have to wait and see. English surtitles will be available.
No holds barred:
All weekend from 7pm: Delicata Classic Wine Festival 2018 - Nadur, Gozo

Delicata / Facebook
Live cooking stalls and, of course, plenty of wine will feature all weekend in Nadur for the Delicata Classic Wine Festival. From semi-sparkling Frizzantes made from the Girgentina and Ġellewża bush vines to the renowned Grand Vin de Hauteville range, there will be plenty to choose from and guzzle.
Saturday, 1st September from 7pm -11pm: Versatile & Friends for ALS - Pjazza San Gorg, Valletta

Versatile Bras Band / Facebook
Give back to the community on Saturday by making a donation to ALS Malta – and to improvements and extensions to Dar Bjorn - as you enter Pjazza San Gorg to enjoy a night of music in the open air. Many bands and artists have been lined up to play: Versatile Brass, Ivan Grech, Christabelle, Matthew James Borg, Amber and Glen Vella are just a few of them, but the real stars of the show will be those who put their hands deep in their pockets.
