Sipping a glass of fresh white while watching the sun go down sounds like it should be a daily staple, together with your five portions of fruit and veg a day. This weekend make sure your cup filleth over, and you get enough 'grape juice’ in you, at Marsovin’s celebration of the 2018 harvest, Antonin Under the Stars. Popular band The Travellers will be putting on a show, and meals by food truck Orange Mile will be on hand to line the stomach, but Marsovin’s vintages are sure to take centre-stage.
Celebrations of storytelling:
All weekend: Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival 2018 – Fort Manoel, Manoel Island

As the summer starts to draw to a close, events such as these will start to become few and far between. But, before we whip out our cardigans and winter jackets, there’s still time to appreciate spectacular storytelling in equally knock-out locations. Combining readings and talks with music – and some food and drink – the Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival has been a staple on the local cultural calendar since 2006. Heavyweights of the islands’ literary scene, as well as international guests, meet, mingle and discuss their work to a rapt audience.
All weekend, various times: Gozo Film Festival - Victoria, Gozo

The golden hued bastions of the Citadel in Gozo is playing host this weekend to the Gozo Film Festival, organised by the Gozo Film Club and featuring a selection of shorts and features connected to these islands. The Oscar-nominated film Kon-Tiki, filmed in Malta in 2011, will lead the charge on Friday, while home-grown romantic comedy 20,000 Reasons, will be screened on Saturday and family-favourite Treasure in Malta will cap off the weekend on Sunday.

Bedouin Fridays & Prive Events / Facebook
Be like the rain this week and party all night at one of the island’s outdoor venues. Bedouin Fridays at the Westin Dragonara Resort has a more chilled out vibe than most, so you can settle down with a cocktail and the inky-black view of the sea, without worrying that your legs won’t hold. But, if dancing in the moonlight is your thing, head further north to Gianpula Village on Friday or (‘and’, if you have the stamina) Uno Malta on Saturday.
Celebrating Caruana:
Friday, 24 August from 7pm: Gabriel Caruana - A Contemporary in the Modern - Valletta Contemporary, Valletta

Valletta Contemporary / Facebook
The late ceramic artist Gabriel Caruana is a household name in Malta, and his recent passing has had many re-discover his work. This exhibition, taking place at Valletta Contemporary, promises to be a tribute to the artist by showcasing work which might not be as easily recognisable, but still retains a focus on his modernist perspective, albeit through a contemporary viewpoint. And, a guided tour tomorrow night will lift the curtain on his inspirations and motivations, highlighting the considerable influence his work has had on other artists working across different media.
