Tomorrow night and Sunday, the play which was once banned, Stitching (tickets here) will be performed at the smaller Studio Theatre while on Saturday, an operatic adaptation of Corto Maltese, about the infamous 19th century sea captain and pirate, will bring the Malta native back to his homeland, with tickets on sale here.

This weekend, lo-fi, back-to-nature activities are celebrated in two festivals – one in Ghajn Tuffieha and the other at the Funky Monkey on Manoel Island – aiming to link music, sustainability, a love of community and creativity. Up in the north of the island, The Bubble 2018 will include workshops, performances and “magical gatherings” while, BEWYLD on Friday will include local acts, such as bark bark disco, and DJ sets from some of the islands well-travelled deck-spinners.
Saturday, 22 September at 8.30pm: Cold War - Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta

Cold War & Spazju Kreattiv
Pawel Pawlikowski’s cinema is surprising and always epic. Ida, which won the Academy Award a few years ago, established this Polish director’s reputation and proclaimed him as one to watch. And, this is his follow-up, Cold War: a sweeping love story set in the days following the Second World War about two musicians who embark on an affair while seeking to escape the stringent limitations on creativity imposed by the Soviet propaganda machine. Unmissable. Tickets from here.
And one for heritage:
Friday, 21 September from 9am – 5pm: Open Day – Inquisitor’s Palace - Inquisitor's Palace, Main Gate Street, Birgu; Saturday, 22 September at 7pm: Harbour Cruise and Tour of Fort St Angelo – departure point Birgu Waterfront, Birgu; Sunday, 23 September from 7.30pm – 10pm: Full Moon at Għar Dalam - Ghar Dalam Cave and Museum, Birzebbuga

Heritage Malta has signed up a series of events this weekend so you’re never far off from your daily fix of culture. Tomorrow, an open day is taking place at the Inquisitor’s Palace – the home and base of the tortuously-strict Inquisitor – while, on Sunday, you’ll have the opportunity to experience Ghar Dalam’s Cave and Museum under the glow of a full moon. Saturday night, however, combines a love of the past with an end-of-summer boat trip around the Grand Harbour!
