Friday 16th February: Acoustic Fridays – Legends Restaurant, Marsascala
Acoustic Academy

Friday 16th February: The Velts – Live at Rumors, Pieta

Local indie band The Velts are back for their first live performance of 2018, where DJ Ze Heckler will be spinning an abundant platter of tunes on the night at Rumors restaurant in Pieta. Entrance to the event is €6, paid at the door, and doors open at 9pm. Further details can be found here.
Saturday 17th February: Rockquiem – St Agatha’s Auditorium, Rabat
The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra will be embarking on a performance of Rockquiem, a rock reimagining of Mozart’s famous last work, the Requiem Mass, which he left unfinished at the time of his death. The orchestra will be performing together with the MPO Chorus, under the direction of Italian conductor and chorus master Riccardo Bianchi. Tickets are €20. Sunday 18th February: Met Opera’s Tosca in Cinema – St James Cavalier, Valletta

Puccini’s melodrama about a volatile diva, a sadistic police chief, and an idealistic artist has offended and thrilled audiences for more than a century. Head to the St James Cavalier’s Cinema in Valletta for the Met Opera’s screening of Tosca. Tickets are €15 for adults, and €12 for students and senior citizens. Friday 16th February-Sunday 18th March: Action Planet Exhibition – St James Theatre, Valletta
The Action Planet exhibition is part of a nationwide sustainability initiative that encourages and empowers people to take an active role in safeguarding the planet for present and future generations. The initiative is bringing together educational institutions, businesses, NGOs, artists and other organisations to help raise awareness and find solutions to improve Malta’s sustainability, particularly among kids and young adults. Friday 16th February: ‘She who lived a life in colour’ exhibition – Iniala5 Gallery, Valletta
Iniala5 galleries is hosting an exhibition to mark 10 years since the demise of Ebba von Fersen Balzan, a well-known, internationally acclaimed Maltese-German artist. This is the first in a series of exhibitions that will showcase Ebba’s extensive and varied collection of art from her short but incredibly productive artistic career. Saturday 17th February: Icon Island – Salesians Theatre, Sliema
Austrian filmmaker and director Virgil Widrich, who’s known for his experimental films and multimedia works, presents Icon Island, a performance of carefully selected images which will be projected as a ‘live’ mix to electronic music by Maltese artist Sonitus Eco. The collage of visuals is inspired by films dealing with the mystic and romantic journey to islands representing alternative societies or different states of mind. Organised by Valletta 2018, the show starts at 8:30pm, and tickets can be purchased here.
