The 15th century Castello Lanzun in San Gwann may not be on everyone’s Malta map of where to go and what to see, but this weekend it gets star treatment with a special concert being organised by Teatru Manoel, the Malta Association for Contemporary Music and the Valletta 2018 Foundation in collaboration with The Military and Hospitaller Order of St Lazarus of Jerusalem. This event, which forms part of the cultural calendar for the Valletta 2018 European Capital of Culture, will see musicians collaborate in a selection of orchestrations consisting of clarinet, violin and piano trios as well as duets and piano solo works. Tickets are on sale online.

This seems to be the order of the day - or should we say the night - at this club which has a long history of pumped up music, international DJs on the decks and packs of friends hitting the dancefloor, out for the kill. Tomorrow, Sound Salon Fridays is welcoming one of its international guests: Kungs, responsible for such tracks as This Girl, Don’t you Know. But, if the golden 90’s is more your thing, Saturday is your night: will the club play the rhythm of the night? That's what we want to know!

More to do when night falls:
Saturday, 11 August from midnight: Perseids - Spectacular Synchronized Fireworks Display - San Lawrenz, Gozo; Saturday, 11 August from 7pm: Sleepover at Għar Dalam – Għar Dalam, Birzebbuga

Maltese village feasts in summer are as ubiquitous as beachgoers in Mellieha on a hot summer’s Sunday, so it may come as no surprise that this weekend the feast of San Lawrenz in Gozo is putting on quite a show to distinguish itself from the crowded holiday season. Aptly called Perseids, after the popular meteor shower which lights up skies peak summer, all eyes will also be turned upwards to see the synchronized fireworks display above. Too much glare? Head inside, deep into Ghar Dalam for their sleepover between Saturday and Sunday. The night will start out with an evening walk, followed by a visit to the bronze age temple of Borġ in-Nadur and, finally, Għar Dalam Cave itself – tickets from here!
