This award was given in recognition of Malta’s search and rescue efforts in the earthquake-hit province of Malatya. Malta’s Civil Protection department was quick to send a team to Turkey following the earthquakes, one of them being a magnitude of Force 7.8. To extricate trapped residents from under the wreckage, the cops had to battle collapsed structures in excruciatingly cold weather conditions.

Thank you for your service!
