The Mdina Cathedral Museum has welcomed a remarkable addition to its collection with the permanent inclusion of the Neapolitan Crib, a cultural treasure celebrating both faith and Baroque artistry.
The crib features over 300 intricately crafted figurines dating back to the 18th century. Long admired in various public exhibitions, the crib has now found its new home at the Mdina Cathedral Museum ensuring it will be preserved and enjoyed by generations to come.
The Neapolitan Crib stands out for its originality and meticulous craftsmanship. Angels, farmers, merchants, and nobles coexist within the display, reflecting the lively social fabric of Naples during the era of the Bourbon Kings.
This extraordinary exhibit now enhances the museum’s collection, drawing not only the faithful but also enthusiasts of history, art, and the creative spirit of human ingenuity.
The Neapolitan Crib is open in the evening from 5.00pm to 9.00pm, running from the 6th December 2025, through the 6th January 2026, except Sundays, Public Holidays, 16th, 24th & 31st December.
